“Some of my best friends to this day are from living in this house. “
1437 May Avenue was the first home I owned and I have owned it since 2002. I originally looked at the house because it was the only one that was a craftsman bungalow, in a neighborhood I could afford, where I could also walk to bars and restaurants (the EARL was .3 miles away). When I was looking at the house, I started talking to a neighbor and what I discovered was the community feel – she could name every person that lived around her house. That was the kind of neighborhood I was looking for – social, close, friendly and fun. I was fortunate to stumble on the East Atlanta Village back then and I was even more fortunate that when we decided to move, we could stay in the neighborhood. Some of my best friends to this day are from living in this house.
The house was built in 1919 by a furniture maker who grew up in Cabbagetown, according to some of his relatives who stopped by one day while we sat on the porch (that happens quite a bit around here). He got the lumber to build it from the forest that used to be just past Blake Avenue down the hill.
When I first bought the house, I spent 3 months going there every night after work til 2am and scraping 15 layers of paint off the trim and fixing up all sorts of things. I cleared out brush and trash from the yard and that became the end of my Do It Yourself phase! A few years later, we hired talented professionals to do the complete renovation. Architects will tell you it hardest to figure out where to put stairs, so while we were already renovating, we decided to put stairs “to nowhere” in (or as our family calls them, “stadium seating”), with the intent that it would make it easier for anyone to add a second story and expand the house. We also put a ton of little custom extras in there, like double deep wine storage built under the stairs, a pass through so your laundry basket would slide from the master bath to the laundry in the hall, custom Container Store closets, a pot filler over the stove, as much storage as we could fit in, and even a huge shed in the backyard.
This house has memories upon memories for our family. I proposed to my wife on that front porch and in 2006, her and I renovated the house to make it our home. We lived in the back bedroom and did a complete gut of the house around us, all while planning our wedding. I brought home my first dog (and also our 2nd and 3rd dog) to this house. We had our twins while we lived here, heard their first words and watched them take their first steps in the living room. We hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 5 years in the house, with more than 25 people each year. We had an annual pumpkin carving party in the back yard and had 50 people on the front porch one year when it rained during the party. If only these walls could talk, they would hopefully not share all of our secrets! We hope that the new owner throws a blowout 100th birthday party for our first home. Welcome to 1437 May Ave and to the EAV – one helluva house, neighborhood, and community.

It was a pleasure working with Marc. He took our needs/wants into consideration to locate a variety of properties. He went above and beyond to help us find the perfect home.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
Marc definitely is an expert in Real Estate, especially In-town area. He is very professional, easy to talk to and he is with you during the whole process till the end and beyond. We purchased our home more than 2 years ago, but we always call him for an expert opinion.
You will enjoy working with him.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
In January I referred Marc to a very dear friend who inherited her Aunt's 130 year old home. In weeks Marc had a contract, and then a back-up contract. Impressive; especially because the first two real estate agents my friend spoke with said that she should have the historic home demolished and sell the property as a parking lot. My friend adores Marc, and I appreciate the respect he brought to her family home.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
Marc has the experience to see through the noise that is the local real estate market to get you not only the best price on selling your home but also the home that suits you best for you to then move in to. We know, we used him to sell and buy our last two homes.
The home we sold went under contract in 30 days if that tells you anything about his talent as a listing agent. The home we then bought was not only a perfect fit for us but was wanted by at least 3 other buyers the day after we had our offer in. Marc was quick and nimble in getting us through both the sale and buy. He brought a soothing calm when things got a little hectic. He negotiated with skill and got us the best prices on both sides of our deals. I would use Marc again but most of all I would recommend him to anyone that needed a savvy gentleman to help them with their real estate needs.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
Marc knows the area (East Atlanta Village and surrounding neighborhoods) better than just about anyone. There are few houses that he hasn't stepped foot in! He knows the ups, downs and trends for each as he has been well connected with area residents, businesses, and community groups for quite some time.
I was a seller, but I believe that Marc is just what a buyer needs as well - a well informed, personable champion looking out for your best interests.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
We had a great experience with Marc. We were particularly impressed with his knowledge of the neighborhoods we were interested in, including architectural styles and history. He understood what we were looking for and came up with smart ideas for finding it.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
Marc is extremely knowledgeable about the intown Atlanta market and its quirks. He is a true professional and works hard to help his clients find the property that they want and need.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
Marc knew the neighborhood I was interested in as well or better than anyone I've met, and lives there as well. His enthusiasm for the community and knowledge of micro-locations within it was incredibly helpful in moving through the process. Negotiations were fairly quick and easy and the process as a whole was as stress-free as I can imagine these things get.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
My wife and I used Marc and just closed on our first home. He made the process easy from start to finish. We were working with a limited budget and he was able to find us exactly what we wanted in a great location. I would certainly recommend Marc to anyone looking to buy a house in the Atlanta area. His schedule is flexible (nights/weekends) and he really made us feel comfortable from the first time we met. Thanks Marc!!!Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
There aren’t enough good things you can say about Marc and his team. We had a complicated closing and contract due to our house being a new build. I am so thankful we had an agent who was extremely experienced and knew what to do in every situation. Marc genuinely cared about our circumstances and our family more than “selling a home” and getting his cut.Highly likely to recommend (via Zillow)
